Penguin Random House Ends Book Country’s Self-Publishing Packages

Penguin Random House was one of the first of the major publishers to enter the self-publishing service market when it expanded its writing community Book Country into a self-publishing imprint in 2011. Ultimately, when the Pearson publishing group purchased Author Solutions Inc. (ASI) in 2012 from Bertram Capital, the self-publishing service provider became the publishing engine for Penguin’s Book Country community and its publishing service packages.

Book Country has now come full circle, and following the sale of ASI by Pearson to an affiliate of Najafi Companies in December 2015, members of the Book Country community were informed in September that it would no longer offer publishing packages, promotional services and a manuscript peer review system. However, Book Country will continue to support its bookstore and community forums.
