Hay House Partner with ASI to Create Paid-Publishing Imprint Balboa Press

The news just in today is that Author Solutions has formed another partnership with a mainstream publisher – Hay House Publishing – to form a self-publishing service in the shape of Balboa Press. This is pretty much a copybook move replicating the models now operated by Thomas Nelson and Harlequin with Westbow Press and DellArte Press respectively.
Here is the text of the press release. And again, there has been a lot happening the past couple of days, so I will need time to fully digest this deal and post properly on it.

Hay House Publishing, a leading provider in publishing products that are self-empowering, announced Friday it is partnering with the world’s leading self-publishing company, Author Solutions, Inc., to launch Balboa Press—a self-help self-publishing division. The alliance will allow authors to benefit from the leadership of Hay House, while taking advantage of Author Solutions’ technology and services that make publishing easy, affordable, and available to anyone.

“We receive thousands of manuscripts annually, but we can publish only 100 products a year,” said Reid Tracy, CEO of Hay House. “Our self-publishing division, Balboa Press, has been formed to allow many more people get their message out. Through this strategic partnership, Author Solutions will manage Balboa Press on behalf of Hay House, taking responsibility for selling and delivering a comprehensive array of publishing, marketing, and book-selling services, designed specifically for Balboa Press authors.
